I don’t know why I’m feeling brave but

the whole slut/sleep around/sex positive thing is real to me here in college so now that I’m two semesters in I feel like I have enough real world experience with the subject (just as a point of interest if a girl slept with a guy EVER at my high school they were branded a slut [a double standard because it sure as hell didn’t apply to me], I understand that this is not an uncommon instance but it pisses me the fuck off now even more than it did then because I FEEL STRONGLY SUPPORTIVE of both women and men who put themselves out there sexually and risk the shit that accompanies an activity that is an excellent way to feel good about yourself and connect and get a good workout while you’re at it).

but - and “nothing counts before the but” is a bullshit absolutist nightmare because there is ALWAYS MORE THAN ONE SIDE TO AN OPINION, whether it be the history or background of the forming of that opinion OR the qualifications that go along with it in the mind of it’s holder - I see it as a logical if-then that if a girl sleeps with 10 guys then it follows that maybe one or two of those guys will be influenced or further influenced to see sex the wrong way, as an expectation for an early morning encounter. NOW BEFORE YOU GET YOUR PANTIES IN A TWIST this is not the girl’s fault, ever. nor is it the role of a blah blah male dominated blah blah sexist blah blah (this is of course INCREDIBLY belittling but THIS IS ALL I EVER HEAR because yes, I and the part of society that is halfway decent [*cough* Republicans *cough*] has acknowledged that women have been and are discriminated against WE’RE ALREADY LISTENING this may be another line of questioning but I don’t really think fire and brimstone are going to advance women in the workplace, political arena or minds of any of the DICKS I have bro’d out with about hooking up with ‘slutty bitches’*).

such a thought process - refocusing: guys getting sex easily before (raises another issue because ‘getting sex?’ does it remain an initiative taken solely on the part of the male? will address later, don’t flip) leading them to view it as requirement - seems so illogical and cruel that it almost seems like it comes from someone fundamentally twisted emotionally and humanely… OH WAIT that just so happens to be my hypothesis. now to say this is the fault of societal influences is a nature/nurture debate that I’m sure I’ll lose cause I made a C/3 in/on AP Psych but who gives a crap??? aren’t we taught that barring severe emotional or psychological trauma, there is an age where we have to take responsibility for our actions? if that age isn’t reached by the time you start having sex of your own free will I think that falls outside the confines of what I’m hitting on in a grander sense, and also I’m here and everyone else who is a decent human being is here to help you. you are not alone. regardless

I have no statistical analysis but equality would say that this is no more common among men than it is with women. we aren’t fighting a battle of the sexes here and I would appreciate it if the rhetoric reflected that more. let’s turn my focus to the issue of the guy’s perspective regarding a quote unquote easy girl (by this I mean simply a girl who enjoys casual sex and has many partners). the way I and I feel most guys take it is, “Awesome, I like sex. I am glad I will get to have it with this girl.” but that can extend to, “…who has sex more freely than those other girls,” which can, in the mind of someone who approaches things with a deeper monkey-see, monkey-do follow-the-leader attitude, lead to, “Those other girls should have sex more.” I want to make sure I get this precises but I also don’t want to kill the flow so if that came out at all off I’d appreciate if you’d point to a deficiency in my skill with the English language rather than a fallacy of logic

this can in turn lead to a sense of expectation (not one that I have experience but have strongly perceived in my fall semester of freshman year) and that I’m sure has lead to many hurt victims. which is what anyone who is ever assaulted or abused is. I have never called someone a slut. I never intend to. but I use it as a marker in my head, and though I hate that I use a hurtful term, tracking the girls (as further evidence for you to discount me as a pig I initially just typed out “ones”) who go all the way often is not for me an act of disrespect or insult. but it’s something we all do. who is having sex with whom matters to us, whether it should or not. the bad guys see it happen and come to expect, and the wrong girls listen. this is also purely addressing a scenario that views the male as the definite agent provocateur, which is another debate entirely. but girls with frequent and casual sexual partners don’t go unnoticed.

I am again losing the plot as that almost led me to type out “and in some way contribute to a larger problem” which I mean is kind of true but also TOTALLY UNFAIR but somethings are that way so does that mean we should pretend they’re not? actually let me get back to you on that one

all I want to say here is that it does affect. sex affects. everyone who participates in the interweaving sexual community, ESPECIALLY ON A COLLEGE CAMPUS, is affected by the hookups going on around them. they affect dynamics, relationships, opinions of one another WHETHER THEY SHOULD OR NOT and oh my god the thought is really just occurring to me that the above quote might have been something to strive for rather than a submitted reality that was false BUT NO MATTER. it doesn’t mean that everybody judges but if some people do there is a disturbance in the force. you think it’d be easy just to say fuck those guys but then that’s how we got here in the first place, amirite?!?!?!

I did it because I felt pressured to, was intoxicated, was too tired to fight back, whatever reason you like. I don’t really see a need to talk about it. but the point is both sides are affected adversely by shit like this, and treating them in discourse like the entities they most decidedly AREN’T isn’t helpful.
